Wichita ranks high for economic performance - South Florida Business Journal:

Brookings ranked the 100 largest U.S. metrko areas on six key employment, unemployment rates, wages, grossa metropolitan product, housing prices and foreclosurre rates. The organization says the reportis “by far the most comprehensivd analysis to date of how metro areasw across the nation are faring during this economif downturn …” Wichita ranked high despite an unemployment rate of 7.1 percentt and thousands of layoffw associated with the aircraft industry. San Antonio ranke No. 1, followed by Oklahoma City, Houston and Dallas. Four of the last five are in Jacksonville, Lakeland, Tampa and Bradenton.
Detroit is the metro with the wors t economic performance in thefirsgt quarter. The report says all the metrio areas lost jobs during the and nearly all metro areas have seen a declinde ineconomic output.
