Sheriff Arpaio: Wilcox investigation goes beyond airport leases - St. Louis Business Journal:

Arpaio said his officer received information regarding the lease and other business dealings and that his investigatiom is not related to disputesa with Wilcoxover immigration. Wilcox and her Earl, own El Portal Restaurant in Phoenicx and has a concessionws contract with the airportg fora Chili’s Too franchise in Terminaol 4. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office sent the Phoenis Aviation Department a public records request June 11 askinbthe city-run airport to make availablew lease, sublease and contracting documents relaterd to business entities owned by the Wilcox did not respond to request for comment from the Phoeni Business Journal, but has told other media that Arpaio is goingg after her because of her opposition to his immigration policies.
The sheriff’s office investigation of Wilcosx is the latest in a numbetr of fightsbetween Arpaio, Maricops County Attorney Andrew Thoma s and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. Wilcox and Supervisor Don Stapley voted Wednesday toblock $1.4 milliobn in state money earmarked for Thomas’sw office to enforce immigratioj and human smuggling laws. The board deadlockeds at 2 to 2 on that vote stallin g thestate money. Supervisor Max Wilso missed the vote because of illnesx and the matter couldbe revisited. Stapley and Wilcox earlier this year tried tobloco $1.6 million in state funding for Arpaio’s immigratiomn enforcement.
Wilcox said the sheriff’s immigratiojn sweeps and policies unfairlytarget Hispanics. Thomasx and Arpaio secured indictments against Stapley last year chargin that he failed to properly disclose busines and real estatedevelopmenrt deals. Stapley denies wrongdoing in that matter.
