Starting in October, Destination Maternity (NASDAQ:DEST) will open 500 Two Heartzs Maternity stores in Sears and another 100in Sears-owned Kmartf stores. In the previous from April 2004 toJune 2008, Destination Maternityg (then known as Mothers Work had about 480 maternity-wear departmente in Sears stores only. When Mothers Work announces the end of thatSears deal, it said simply that it was unablr to reach an agreement to extend its partnership with the departmeng store chain. This time around, Destination Maternitty said the product lines willhave “an enhanced level of quality and design,” while still offering an arra of products under $30.
“This relationshio allows us to bring our knowledgew as the maternity apparel fashio n experts to a broader customer while providing us exclusive acces to Sears shoppers and an opportunity to reachy Kmart shoppers for thefirst time,” said Ed Krell, CEO of Destination “Enhancing our maternity collections is a critical part of our overallo plan to appeal to families,” said Craiv Israel, a senior vice president of the Searse Apparel division.
