California settles with Kmart, sues Target - Portland Business Journal:

The state’s attorney general, Jerr y Brown, joined by distric t attorneys from manyCalifornia counties, including Alameda, Santa Clarsa and Contra Costa, filed a suit against Minneapolis-based Targetf (NYSE: TGT), saying it sent hazardous waste to various landfills in violatioh of state law. The suit is meant to stop the Innews reports, Target said it has been cooperating with the AG’w office for three yearw on this matter and that it is committed to complyingt with all environmental laws.
Kmart, owne by (NASDAQ: SHLD), agreedd to a settlement that includeecivil penalties, legal costs and some moneyg to boost protection of the environment in the Thomas Orloff, Robert Kochly, Jamee Fox and Dolores Carr, the DAs of Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Claraz counties respectively, joined Brown in the suit against According to court papers, Target has 180 facilities, includint stores and warehouses, in California.
