As I navigated the crowds, I got to see many interestinyg Atlantasmall businesses. There were a lot of technology from large players in telecom to interesting contactmanagement software. There was even a live demonstration of an Interneg solution for data There were other important services for smalkl business ownerson including: mediation, consulting, banking and In addition, I saw some compellintg examples of work by branding and marketing businesses, learnexd about some products or facilities I could use with my familty business clients, and even had the chance to lear n about ways I could help my cliente give back to the community with the United Way!
In additiohn to the small business showcase, the morning's activitiexs included a valuable panel to help smallk business owners learn how to effectivelhy sell to larger businesses. A pane l of procurement leaders from someof Atlanta's premierw businesses were on hand to discuss their company's philosophy on buying from smaller, or from minority-owned There was a lively questionj and answer session whered the panel generously provided tips and insighty to help audience members competse for their budget dollars. A numbee of panelists even offered to make direct introductions so I thinlk the participants really got a lot out ofthis session.
I certainlyt enjoyed my visit and hope othef attendees felt they learned and made some useful professionaolconnections today. The second post comes from Brian J. Thankes to the leadership of Glen Gould, directof of small business programs at the Metro Atlanta the past two years have been a watershedd of activities that has fostered personal and businesw development for small business owners that are involved with the chambeas members. In addition to variouw programs intended to grow business knowledge around how to effectivel and efficiently operate asmall business, there are four to five networkingt opportunities per month that the chambere hosts. These are “must attend” events for those that are serious aboutr growingtheir businesses. Come on down to the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and remember to bring plenty ofbusineses cards!

Hundreds of business peoplde were in attendance visiting the vendof showcase and hearing how small busineses can sell tobig businesses. Attendees were inspired by Max Carey, 1988 Smallk Business Person ofthe Year. The food was incredible and everywhere you turned you heard encouraging stories of how the smallp business community is surviving and thriving inthis economy. The chamber is a greag place to meet the right people and make theright connections.
The centerpiece of the day was honorinv Small Business Person of the Year finalistasJeff Albert, principal of World Lola Carlisle, co-owner and executive creative director of Tailfin Marketing Communications; Hicham Bouani, CEO of Boujed Publishing and GlobalProjeX; Nancy Freeman Balkcom, presidentg of MySupplies; and Mike Russell, president of Elit e Telecom Services.
