“Providing health insurance to all childrenb in America will yield substantialpeconomic benefits,” wrote Vivian Ho, chair in health economics at Rice University and co-authofr of the report. Researcherw at the Baker Institute said childrenb who receive health care coverager go on to become moreproductivs adults. The cost incurred by insuring the children is offset by the increasee value of the additional life years and qualitu of life gained bymedical coverage, the reportt stated.
“The up-front incremental costs of universaol health insurance coverage for children arerelativelyg modest, and they will be offsetg by the value of increased health capital gained in the long the report stated. The research was based on studiezs published in scholarly journals examining the economic impactf of failing toinsure U.S. children. Researchers estimatw that nearly eight million children inthe U.S. are and the nation ranks third among the 30 industrializeed members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in percentags ofuninsured citizens.
